Located in the corner of historic Balboa Park, BTC is the best spot for tennis lovers. We’re a patch of concrete in a 1,200-acre vibrant landscape filled with gardens, canyons, and hiking trails—and we’ve been part of this community’s story for decades. Here’s a look at how we got here.

2019

The Maureen Connolly Brinker Tribute Wall and Ben Press Family Tennis Pavilion are constructed and dedicated in a special ceremony.
The Club assumes all operational responsibilities and sells its first membership.

1983

1967

BTC officially moves from its previous site near the San Diego Zoo to its current location. The BTC Clubhouse is designed and built by Sim Bruce Richards, an apprentice of Frank Lloyd Wright.
17 additional courts are constructed during this time, culminating with the completion of the stadium.

1940 – 1966

1939

Articles of Incorporation are written recognizing BTC as a public, non-profit corporation.
Morley Field site development is complete with eight tennis courts, a pool and other sport courts.

1933 

June 19, 1922

Six courts are built by the War Memorial Building in Balboa Park, close to the current location of the San Diego Zoo.

Board

The BTC Board of Directors consists of BTC members from all walks of life. This is an all volunteer board, with each member serving a two year term
beginning in January.

Board Meetings take place every third Tuesday of the month at 6:30pm in the BTC Clubhouse. All members are welcome. Click here to read the Minutes of recent meetings.
